Evolution? Really????

Well according to evolutionists... these are all related. All evolving from one single same single cell organism from a tar pit! I just can't get my head around how people can actually believe this??
It has already been PROVEN absolutely, unequivically IMPOSSIBLE - and yet "man" continues to try and believe that the fruit fly and elephants are our cousins, instead of accepting that there is an almighty God? Because why? Because it's easier to believe this?? hahahaha! Yah. Right!
Do they LOOK related??!? LOL
I think it's because man would rather struggle to prove this, than believe that there is a God that knows their thoughts and intentions - because that induces a feeling of guilt and shame knowing what has gone on in their mind and life! So yah... they will stretch as far as looking at this absolutely majestic peacock, and instead of seeing God's glory in every little perfectly placed feather - they see a cousin to the elephant!!
It makes me sad, not to mention amazed, at man's repeated stupidity over the course of history. :(
You're probably wondering why this came up on my blog today?
Because I have 4 children. Who are full of questions. Who are trying to understand this theory that the school is feeding them. And children are all accepting little sponges - and even THEY can't buy into it!!
It just makes me want to scream, watching what our country and culture as human beings is coming to. Watching the government bending over backwards to take any reference to God out and off their buildings, their currency, schools, books.. you name it. And I already know the end of the story. I know what will become of the majority of the human beings that populate our planet. And yes, it makes me sad! Very sad.
A VERY interesting book, a bit on the heavy side because of all the scientific evidence, but absolutely riveting - for believers, and nonbelievers - "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel.
It may take you months to get through it, although all you want to do is read read read!!
An average guy who happens to be a journalist is confronted with the fact that his wife has just become a Christian - and he can't believe her naivety since it is sooo unscientific! So he sets out to DISPROVE God - figuring it would be simple enough to prove and bring her to her senses!!! What he finds out in the process of using science (the one leg most evolutionists stand on) to disprove Him, is that it's not doable!! Quite the opposite! Science SUPPORTS and points to a higher power and designer. Incredible amounts of research went into his books! And for those that are more science minded, exactly what they need!
My oldest son is a very "factual" based person, and even being a believer this rocked his world!
For me... Genesis 1-50 is enough. In the beginning God created...
God said it. I believe it. End of story.
But I know that is harder for some, than believing that WE are related to the fruitfly! So.. check out this book - it is all based on solid scientific evidence!
Fence sitting on this subject is not an option - because it is either one way or the other. There is no middle ground on this one. If you're on the fence, then you don't believe - very simple. Is it time to dig in and take a deeper look at what you believe, and why? My children are. :) And three of my closest and dearest friends did ~ and discovered the truth ~ and not the truth via me!! But truth via the Holy Spirit! He'll show you too - if you allow Him to!!
On this day of Halloween - a celebration of spooks, gouls, demons and witches, I know what Satan wants you to believe!! That all those things are "ok" ! And even if you don't really believe that - he's ok with you sitting on the fence about it too! Take a guess why!
Closing in a prayer.. scripture from Ephesians 2: 17-19
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened: that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power... I pray that you will search out the truth. In Jesus' awesome name.. amen.

This-n-that

The girls couldn't resist building a snowman on Sunday. :) They were too cute out there in their jammies, and coats and this darling lil guy came to life!

I'm so thankful for Colorado weather!! :D The snow melted within a day, and we are back up to the mid 70's !! GOTTA LOVE THAT!!! Oohh and now it SMELLS like fall!! woohoo!!

I don't know if i've mentioned that I'm a "comfort" girl, more than a "showy" girl? A definite homebody!! I like rooms where you feel like you are immediately at home, and can snuggle right in, and really relax! Big down pillows... a comfy couch... and a place to put your feet up! (yes that is what that ugly brown throw is for!! lol So we can curl up without absolutely destroying our LIGHT yellow couch!) It never looks "perfect". Which can get under my skin on those OCD days.. but for the majority of the time, this is the way i think it should be!! (and have i mentioned that red and yellow are my happy places???)

Now my mess is another story!!
I have been busily "nesting" in the evenings. Not necessarily intentionally!!
I've been so busy filling orders, and trying to stay caught up.. nesting times have been far and few between! But this week, I decided come 9pm i NEED to "clock out" and have a little down time before going to bed - or else i just get so wound up, and my shoulders get tighter and tighter as the week goes on.. and then i'm no good for anyone!! I have found that there are two things that are an absolute MUST for me on a daily basis!
#1 Be in God's word - EVERYDAY. Reading every morning is absolutely crucial for me to function the WAY i want to function - in Christ!!!
#2 Have a little "down time" at the end of each day, and allow myself to unwind from all the craziness around me. Usually this is when i will sit and stitch or hook, because the need to create is right on up there in the "need to" category!!
The process of nesting, as many of you know... means that you gather things up around you to work on... and each day as things are brought into the nest.. it gets fuller and fuller! And when one doesn't pick up after themselves each evening....one can barely get to the couch!
One often wonders how one's husband so wonderfully tolerates one's need to nest!!!??? :-0
Look at that mess!!! And wanna know what's funny?? I hate things to be in total disarray - and yet THIS MAKES ME HAPPY!!! LOLOL go figure! Mebbe cuz it's MY nest?? :D
Regardless, it's getting cleaned up TODAY!!!

I've started quilting my applique quilt (jan patek) - and i am soooo SLOOWWWW!!! :( This is all I have gotten done on it so far. Just starting my third swirly. But hey.. it might be done by next Christmas!!

A friend was selling some of her old quilts and quilt tops... and when i saw this hand pieced red and white one, i thought "oohh!! i could practice my quilting on that, without having to put all the labor into the top!!" :D But i got impatient with starting and didn't have any backing or batting for this one.. and instead just started on the applique one!! :-o Brilliant, huh?
But how cute is this?!?

And working on another rug :)
Thus the piles of wool in my living room! And to all you hookers out there, YES i will be rehooking the words! LOLOL!!

I think it's funny how things go in waves. This week hooking kits and linen have been flying out the door! Apparently i'm not the only one that's hunkering down and starting her nest for the winter!!

Now it's time for me to get off the puter and fill the rest of these orders!!
I hope you have a beautifully blessed day! And to quote my friend Tammy, "go forth and be creative!"

Nesting...

Well we went from this.......... trees just changing, barely into fall.. leaves just starting to fall.. haven't even had the chance to walk thru the crunchy leaves yet......

To waking up to THIS this morning!!!

I don't think you can see the huge clumpy wet flakes that are still falling in these pics??

I'm praying this isn't a precursor of things to come this winter???!! Wow. It seems to come earlier and earlier every year! We had a whoppin WEEK of fall! :( (and since that IS MY FAVORITE time of year, that really bummed me out!!)
So...we decided not to go to church this morning (as we don't even know where our snow scraper is yet??) and instead decided to snuggle in and nest today!! Lit a fire first thing...

And I'll be starting on quilting my quilt. I found this at the quilt shop the other day. It is filled with a "waxy powder", and you pounce it on the counter to get the powder down and into a terry cloth sponge, then you just swipe it over your template, and VOILA!
Now... i really don't know that this will work for me, as i am working on hand quilting.. AND i'm a lap quilter. Which means i handle the fabric much more than if it were in a frame. I dunno if this will even hold up and stay for the quilting of one go round of each template at a time?? We'll see i guess!
These are the templates I chose for the red applique quilt. The spirals will fill the center, and the other two for the borders. Keep in mind i am still not very good at this! LOL! So i tried to choose something SIMPLE!! :D
Ok.. so i went to the quilt shop to drop off my scissors to be sharpened. And to pick up some new quilting needles.
That's it. LOL!
I came away with the pouncer, a new ruler, needles, and oohhh lookie!! Some fabric that inspired me for my next quilt!! hahaha!!
This grouping will be added to several reds that I already have on hand.
and...... these were ALL HALF OFF!!!
SCORE!!!! :D

Well i'm going to go snuggle in with my quilt, thimbles and needles now! Still in my cozy robe and slippers :D
I think i might just stay this way ALL day!!
hee hee :)
Leaving you with a picture taken from the inside of the house, looking through the window to the outside, of my dorky cat sitting in the window box planter, watching the world go by!
LOL
This is her new favorite place to hang out!
I wish I would have grabbed a photo of her from the street, as cars driving by would see her!
(quick close your eyes to that mess!!)
Have a great Sunday!!
Blessings,
Bren :0)

I didn't think to take any pics of the booth until near the end of the show. :( duhh. But Dan caught a few. It is a long booth... didn't really get a decent shot of the other table full of as is wools and notepads and goodies... but you get the idea :)
And hey.. did you notice that the sampler rug got done in time and is hanging on the rack? LOL
I be berry tired.
I'll try to post more this next week!

In my defense...

Now...In my own defense... regarding the post below.. I very rarely GIVE IN to that temptation/desire! LOL! As my close friends and family can all attest! I just struggle with it, and recognize it when it happens!! You guys just got to be some of the innocent bystanders this (second) time I have actually given in to it! :D My work ethic is such that "work always comes first" over fun - and while that's a good thing, it can also be a 'curse', because you never get any fun time!! (because there's ALWAYS work to be done!!) So anyway... haha... just wanted to share that with you! It's not like i cave regularly! :D (but DARN IT FELT GOOD!!!!) Well today is 'the day before the show'. Which means i'm leaving a blur behind me i'm running around so fast! Things still to be tagged, cards to print, freebies to gather, making sure i have all the neccessary things... bags, receipts, pens, extra tags, my grids, screw gun, tape, scissors,.. well you get the idea! LOL Tomorrow should be fun! I LOVE being around a bunch of other hookers!! ttfn :) Bren (woosh!! did you see that cartoony blur as i rushed away???)

Third Tooth Gone!!

Holy cow... and a fourth is loose! Poor kid has a huge hole in her mouth!! LOLOL
Donchya just love kids with missing teeth?? :D I know I do!!

Caught in the act of doing that thing I do!!

BUSTED!!!!!!
hee hee
You've caught me in the act of doing "that thing i do" . (she says rolling her eyes)
So here i am ... busting my tail to get all the stuff done for my show on the 13th... dyeing wool, tracing a bazillion patterns, trimming and tagging everything, and organizing.... still having to draw another 15 patterns or so.. and dye some lights.. and guess what?
I decided i NEEDED to hook.
Like NOW.
(I swear this isn't a form of procrastination!!! It's more like escapism when i am feeling overwhelmed!! lol)
But... the fact that it invariably happens when i am THE BUSIEST, and truly have no time to squeeze anything else in... i become my most creative!! Sheesh.
Soooo.... while working, i figured i could at least just draw this out... (you know.. to be hooked "later")
And...
donchya know
the minute it was drawn
i REALLY (of course) WANTED to hook it!
So was i a good girl?
did i turn a blind eye to it and keep working?
Heck no.
Instead i gathered wool and hooked like a maniac and got this done in a day and a half!
I have since tried a few different borders on it, and they just didn't work the way i wanted them to. And since i have NO TIME to fiddle with it, i am just hooking a couple of rows of yummy browns around the edges and will be steaming it later today!
I need to mention that I have wanted to do a 'sampler' type rug for some time, but just couldn't get it to flow right. Then on Sept 1st kelley posted this darling rug on her blog! I just LOVED it!! So since then visions of sugar plums... uh.. er... prim samplers have been dancing through my head. She inspired me. Somehow that switch got flipped to the "on" position!! lolol
Kept telling myself... yah.. after the hook-in you can work on one!
Hah.
Fat chance!
I DID hold out for a couple weeks!! I did good!! LOL!!
I got MOST of my work done before caving in! :D
Does that count?

Also just about got this finished. I am going to rehook the cat once again. I think i am just going to do it in an antique black... just a silhouette in front of the tree. Also going to hook a row of dark on the bottom, and rehook a few of the leaves on the trees as they have disappeared. But it too will be steamed and serged today, and taking a road trip with me on the 13th. This one is bigger... 22x 48. I'm liking the medium value background - but boooyyy is it a booger to work with! It really does define what you can and can't use!

Wow this pic turned out so dark :(
Well.. i have two more days before the hook-in... heh heh... maybe I should start a new quilt!? LOL There's plenty of time..
RIGHT???
:D
(YES I'M KIDDING!! LOL)
Ok, i really need to get back to work!
Have a blessed day!!
~Bren :0)
ps... saturday my oldest son Gavin broke the top of his foot!! yeeoouch! And i took Bailey to the dr. on Monday with strep throat. Thankfully Bay is healing right up with antibiotics! And poor Gav is just going to have to suffer thru it while his foot heals, as there is nothing they can do for it! :(
